FAQ

WHAT IS A SOUND BATH?

Sound baths are a meditative practice involving the use of resonant music. This creates an immersive sound that fills the room and the body, aiming to help people relax and let go of stress, anxiety, or other worries and concerns. People report feeling deeply relaxed after sound baths.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING A SOUND BATH SESSION?

During a sound bath session, participants typically lie down in a comfortable position, close their eyes, and focus on the sound vibrations. The facilitator will play various instruments, creating a immersive auditory experience. Some people may experience deep relaxation, visualizations, or emotional release.

WHAT DO I BRING TO A SOUND BATH?

You will always receive a confirmation e-mail that will tell you what you will need to bring. As a rule of thumb these items often include: Water, yoga mat, blanket/s, pillow/s, and anything else that will make you super comfortable. You are lying down for a long period of time so bring ALL the pillows and blankets you would like. Wear comfortable clothing and socks so your feet do not get cold).

HOW DOES SOUND HEALING WORK?

Sound healing works by using specific frequencies and vibrations to resonate with the body, mind, and spirit. It can help balance energy, reduce stress, promote mental clarity, and facilitate emotional release.

HOW LONG DO SOUND BATH SESSIONS USUALLY LAST?

Sound bath sessions can vary in duration, but they typically last between 45 minutes to an hour. Ohm Dome Sound Bath Experiences are scheduled for closer to 75-90 minutes to include warm-up time to sink in and regulate breathing in the beginning and provide reflection & community time after the event.

AM I GOING TO GET WET?

We get asked this a lot! And the answer is, No! You will not be sitting in water or actually in a physical bath. A sound bath involves using the vibrations of sound to flow through your body and help cleanse energy throughout.

WHAT INSTRUMENTS ARE COMMONLY USED IN SOUND BATHS?

Common instruments used in sound baths include Tibetan singing bowls, crystal singing bowls, gongs, tuning forks, drums, chimes, and other percussion instruments.

IS THIS A RELIGIOUS-BASED EVENT?

Not at all! All religious and non-religious attendees welcome. There is no judgement or expectations to uphold here. Just be. :)

ARE THERE ANY RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH SOUND BATHS?

Generally, sound baths are considered safe for most people. However, individuals with certain medical conditions such as epilepsy or severe hearing loss should consult with a healthcare professional before participating. Some people may also experience discomfort due to the intensity of certain frequencies.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD ONE ATTEND SOUND BATHS FOR OPTIMAL BENEFITS?

The frequency of attending sound baths varies for each individual. Some people may benefit from weekly sessions, while others may find monthly or occasional attendance sufficient. It ultimately depends on personal preferences and goals.

CAN ANYONE PARTICIPATE IN A SOUND BATH?

Yes, sound baths are generally accessible to anyone regardless of age, fitness level, or previous experience with meditation or healing practices. However, it's important to inform the facilitator of any medical conditions or concerns before participating.

IS IT THE SAME AS MEDITATION?

There are a variety of types of sound baths. Many carry similar principles/value of meditation, but not all. In fact, many attendees have stated that sound baths allow them to be able to meditate much better, because they have trouble meditating in quietude. It is always a good idea to read the description or reach out to the facilitator prior to the event to learn more about the intention and "vibe" behind it. This will prevent you from attending a loud gong bath when you were expecting to attend a tranquil zen meditation sound bath.

IF I HAVE TROUBLE RELAXING AROUND STRANGERS, SHOULD I ATTEND A GROUP SOUND BATH?

At Ohm Dome, we strive to provide a warm, safe and low pressure environment to maximize comfortability. We work hard to ensure enough space for everyone is available and are always happy to privately work with you to ensure you feel good throughout. Eye covers and other items are also provided during the session to help enhance your tranquil experience.

WHAT IF I FALL ASLEEP?

Then that is validation that we are doing our job well :) Sound healing works on the conscious, subconscious and unconscious!

I AM WORRIED THAT IF I FALL ASLEEP I MAY SNORE:

This is a very common occurrence and there is absolutely no need to be worried. We will always discuss this at the beginning of each sound bath. We aim to get you in the most relaxed state. In the case you are prone to making your own vibrational healing sounds (snoring), we ask that you maybe lie on your side or in a way that, if you do fall asleep, you may not snore. We also give full permission for neighbors or the practitioner to come by and lightly nudge you to pull you a little bit out of that state.

*Always remember to consult with a qualified healthcare professional if you have any concerns regarding your health before participating in sound baths or any other alternative healing practices.
